I had to take the job because…

So two days later I found myself on a flight to an airport near the caves of Qumran on the shore of the Dead Sea.
I was there to get as many shots as possible for the Magazine.
My contact there was Rabbi Takov…a history academic and neuroscientist.
He would tell me all about the scrolls and what his team of researchers had learned about them over the years.
The following day, Rabbi Takov was waiting in the hotel lobby, ready to take me to the caves where the Scrolls were found.
He looked as I would expect any Rabbi to look…
Dressed in a smart Black suit and white shirt.
And a full, bushy salt and pepper beard.
His eyes had an energy or twinkle I had never seen before.
And there was something about the way he looked at me that made me relax.
Like sinking into a warm bath.
Like I could breathe for the first time in months.
When we arrived at the cave site, Rabbi Takov took me on a tour of where the scrolls were found.
